16 Alice In WonderlandWhen the Mouse heard this, he turned around and slowly swam back to her and he said, %u201cLet%u2019s go to the shore, and then I%u2019ll tell you why I hate cats and dogs.%u201dIt was time to leave because the pool was getting crowded with animals and birds. Alice led the way, and everyone swam to the shore.A strange group of animals and birds gathered on the bank. The birds had messy feathers, and the animals%u2019 fur was wet. They talked about how to get dry again.After a while, Alice enjoyed talking with them. Then, the Mouse told everyone to sit down so he could help them get dry. They all sat in a circle around the Mouse. Alice watched anxiously because she didn%u2019t want to catch a cold. The Mouse started talking about something boring from a book. Some didn%u2019t like it. Then the Dodo suggested a game to get them dry. They played the game, and it made them all dry again. When they finished, they wondered who won.Dodo said, %u201cEveryone won.%u201d They cheered, and Alice got a thimble as a prize.Then they ate sweets. They asked the Mouse to tell them more. The Mouse started telling his story, but Alice didn%u2019t listen to him. The Mouse got angry and walked away. The others asked the Mouse to come back, but he refused. The animals and birds left, leaving Alice alone. She felt sad and wished her cat Dinah was there. Then she heard footsteps.
